Hi I'm Brian, I created this website to catalog some of the projects I completed in my spare time. My background is in Applied Mathematics and Materials Science, and I've been working as a software engineer in the aerospace industry. My long term goals are to improve my software skills and deepen my understanding of science, particularly quantum mechanics and relativity. In the short term though, I am collaborating with a friend who is working on his Phd on my first paper, related to hypersonic flight.

On this website you will find fun projects I completed in the broad areas of materials science, robotics, and mathematics. Materials science is the study of how processing methods change a materials micro-structure, then attempts to relate the micro-structure to the physical properties the material exhibits. When it comes to robotics, I believe designing a robot or anything electronic, requires a lot of hard work and creativity to design electronic circuits and write the code for the robot/technology to accomplish its goals. Next, I think that mathematics is a great tool for thinking about the world, evaluating our imaginations for the future, and my favorite way to approach problems. Math really is perfect for any aspiring scientist. And finally, it would be fun to invent some cool things along the way like new energy harvesting devices and to take a shot at discovering a practical technique for faster than light travel.

I used to be an avid MatLab user, but in the last four or five years I started using free and open source software like Python and Linux. But I think software doesn't need to be free of charge for users, but if they're advanced users like scientists and engineers, being able to look at the source code to figure out how an algorithm was implemented allows us to 1) Check for correctness, and 2) improve on past work. In this way we can accelerate scientific and engineering discovery.

TL;DR
